Background

Dr. Louden is trained in several healing systems: bioenergetics; gestalt; spiritual healing; developmental psychology; family systems psychology and positive psychology.  Consequently, she can work with people in ways that are their strengths:  psychological awareness, spiritual awareness, emotional awareness, body awareness, cognitive awareness.  Molly’s work is an integration of all these healing, psychotherapeutic modalities.  Dr. Louden not only is trained in psychotherapy; most importantly, she has done her own healing work. She has walked the walk.

Molly is not only a psychotherapist, but also a Priest, being one of the earliest women ordained in the Episcopal Church.  She lives and walks on the prophetic edge of the church, paying attention to where God is inviting each one of us to be fully, abundantly alive.

More About Me

Dr. Louden is a graduate of and former trainer for Hartford Family Institute. She has a Masters of Divinity from Yale and a Doctorate in Applied Pastoral Care.  She is an Episcopal Priest formerly at St. James’s in West Hartford, a National Certified Professional Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Connecticut.  Molly is the Co-founder of Gestalt Pastoral Care—a training program, integrating spirituality, psychotherapy and religion. Molly is Past President of Charter Oak Cultural Center Board of Directors in Hartford.  She is a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Dr. Louden has been married for 57 years to a family lawyer, Bruce Louden.  In that relationship she has gained wisdom from experience in what makes relationships work.

“I know it takes courage and commitment to heal your life.  I have great admiration for people who have the motivation and courage to come to therapy and learn from their struggles.  It takes great commitment to your life to be vulnerable and ask for help.  Being a psychotherapist and a priest are both vocations and callings for me.  It is a privilege to work with people who come to me and are committed to living their lives and relationships in a way that helps them grow personally.”

"In April, 2017, I went on pilgrimage to the island of Iona to study Celtic Christianity. I realized I had found a theology that matched my experience and understanding of God. That summer, I organized the Celtic Worship team, and we have been offering services the first Sunday of the month at St. John's Episcopal Church in West Hartford."
